Thermal Spray – Moly Coat

Thermal Spray or metal spraying is a surface modification technique, where atomized metallic or nonmetallic materials are deposited in a molten or semi-molten state forming a coating on a work piece. Thermal Spray being a cold process, it never distorts the parent material. The coating material may be in the form of powder, ceramic-rod, or wire and the thickness of coating is controllable within couple of microns. Functional properties such as wear, corrosion resistance, etc. can be added to the work piece by selecting appropriate coating material over the work piece.

Variety of substrates like aluminum, steel, stainless steel, plastics, etc. along with variety of coating materials like molybdenum, tungsten carbide, stainless steel, ceramics, (chrome oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconia, titania), nickel- chrome carbides, etc. can be used to impart desired properties to the substrate.

Advantages:

  • Coating offers good coefficient of friction
  • Heavy coating and the thickness can be controlled in microns
  • There is no water pollution.

MetDerm currently offers Moly coat used in various industries. For details, please visit Moly Coat.
